Still rockin'

The Works, Volume I tour set out ambitiously with a full orchestra. After several shows, economic realities set in; this Birmingham show was the first on the tour without the orchestra. Ahhhh, I didn't care. I had a great time anyhow and I got some outstanding photos.

Tech notes: Keith still has the classic Moog console (from the Jackson photo above, you'll see it still at stage right), but now we also have the PolyMoog (to Keith's left as he faces the audience). At this point I think it was only a four-tone instrument, maybe eight. Carl's percussion ensemble has expanded from the overdone but still standard equipment that you can see set up directly on the stage floor in Mobile a few years earlier; his setup now rotates on a pedestal, especially cool when the timpani drums come around during his solos (that shot was probably during Tocatta from Brain Salad Surgery).
