Having come to Deadwood, South Dakota for a long weekend centered on doing the Mickelson Trail Half Marathon (6/6/04), I took in several other nearby sites as well. South Dakota's west end just keeps on giving and giving for anyone who loves the outdoors, provided you can subsist on a low-oxygen diet. The area offers plenty more besides these big-name attractions. I'd like to return here in the fall or the spring and spend a few days just hiking trails.
