Finally: Earlier this week, Uno had become the first beagle ever to win Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club. Sunday morning at breakfast, Jan learns that a dog show is taking place locally. We would decide to go anyhow, before making the drive to Columbia (where I had a presentation Monday), but it turns out that Uno is scheduled to appear there this afternoon! What are the chances?

Turns out that Uno lives in Columbia and he was already registered to compete here. Having taken Westminster, the owner decided to opt for just having Uno come up for a little social hour. Since that was scheduled for 2:00, at about 1:15 we staked out seats in front of the area, to make sure we got a good view.

Good thing we planned ahead and sat up front, because the local Club made no significant preparations for crowd control. Once the handler finished showing Uno and invited the crowd up for photos, everyone just surged forward. We had our photo made and headed out.
